Stimulus money for construction now begins flowing

Engineering News Record had an article today, Stimulus Money Starts Flowing to Construction Projects Across the Nation

Eight months after the President signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act into law, construction's $130-billion share of the $787-billion program is finding its way to a variety of projects.

One  interesting point of this is that a good chunk of the stimulus money is only now beginning to seriously flow, just as the recession seems to be diminishing.  Obviously it takes time to get this stuff started, so i'm not complaining, nor is the construction industry. But when the claims are made next year (especially by congressman up for re-election) that the 'stimulus package'  ended the recession, remember the timing.

I picked up one other startling statistic:  the so-called stimulus program, passed in early '09, will  only have spent 3/4 of its total by late 2010, long after a recovery should be well in the works. (as per congressional budget office report)

sounds like at least half of this 'stimulus' is ordinary pork barrel appropriations. Gotta bring home the bacon!
