There's one last thing worth mentioning: the CMBS market is very dry right now and expected to remain so, due to the credit issues we mentioned below.

This lack of cmbs financing does not augur well for the ability to finance or re-finance commercial real estate transactions, particularly large ones.  Today's WSJ has an additional article on the topic specifically in relation to the bankruptcy of Extended Stay America.
